Carry Plastic Waste Down: From Spirit to Concrete Action
Puncak Mangu, October 15, 2023 — The morning sky had just turned blue when eager steps began ascending toward Pura Pucak Mangu. Through an activity titled “Carry Plastic Waste Down,” Paralegals.id together with several communities and youth organizations held a mountain clean-up as a real embodiment of Tri Hita Karana, especially the aspect of Palemahan—harmony between humans and nature.
The activity, which took place from 06.00 to 17.00 WITA, involved Pasikian Yowana Bali, a youth organization dedicated to preserving Balinese customs, culture, and values. Suka Antarayasa, founder of Paralegals.id and also a member of the legal division of this organization, interpreted the activity not merely as physical cleansing but also as spiritual cleansing. Pasikian Yowana Bali is led by Ida Dewagung Lesmana, a multitalented artist with deep concern for environmental sustainability.
“We cannot talk about cultural preservation without also safeguarding its living space, namely the nature of Bali,” said Dewagung during the activity.
Back to the Roots: Sispala Wana Bhakti Pertiwi
This event was also an emotional reunion for two figures behind Paralegals.id: Suka Antarayasa and Endra Setiawan. Among the participants were enthusiastic students from Sispala Wana Bhakti Pertiwi, a nature-loving community from SMA Negeri 1 Mengwi. This Sispala was not just an ordinary school organization—it was the seed of a love-for-nature movement planted by Suka back in 2007, when he was still a high school student.
Endra Setiawan, Co-founder of Paralegals.id, was the first member of that Sispala. Now, more than a decade later, they stood once again in the same place—among trees and mist, with the same spirit, protecting nature not for praise, but because it is a duty.
Carrying Plastic Waste, Preserving Harmony
This activity was not only about picking up litter, but also about shaping a new mindset. Plastic waste, so often left behind on hiking trails, has now become a symbol of shared responsibility. Each participant carried back the waste they found—a simple yet powerful principle: what you bring up, you must also carry down.
The Small Steps We Can Take
Through this small movement, Paralegals.id seeks to show that the existence of a law firm is not solely about drafting articles and documents. There is a broader space beyond legality—namely a moral responsibility toward the earth and the environment where we stand.
Carry Plastic Waste Down is only the beginning. Paralegals.id is committed to making Mountain Clean-Up a regular activity that unites profession, tradition, and love for nature. “For us, the honor of a profession is also determined by how much we care for humanity’s greatest inheritance: nature itself,” said Suka Antarayasa.
